omg. why is western ontario there. its nothing compared to the rest of the school. if anything, MCMASTER university or University of Waterloo should be there.

Mac has a renowned health sci program that even harvard is sending people over to learn about how Mac teaches problem-based style.

And waterloo has an awesome co-op program, not so great now, but nevetheless, its still an awesome school for accounting and engineering.

a lot of people went to harvard doesn't make it a good school. Not saying harvard is not a good school, but there is some logical flaws from your reply.

Cute_vivi_panda - did you pick UT as your best school? UT is a great one as well - standing at 21 in the world (its business school). well-known in medi as well.4u_'gt(WS,c

About Western Ontario - I want to know how people are looking into this school. This school used to be the top school in Canada (standing at 18 in the world) - but now these few years the school is losing its rankings - drop to 30ish la.......N%W/Cx5S

mcmaster is really good! its not known for its business, but solely known for its renowned "health sciences program". that program is focused on problem-based learning, self-initiated research and application into case studies. kind of like pre-med, and it has a high 60% of med school acceptance, and over 20% professional school acceptance.o+Hwx&m1C4e8A+l LH

A lot of the US schools are now sending reps to mcmaster to learn how this new style of learning works (because it sure is working really well). so, mcmaster is definitely top notch with respect to health sciences.

western ontario was good, but now....?9K(Y|6m

western ontario is now also known as "the party school" because of its location (surrounded by pubs and bars) and how everyone really doesn't do much work and party a lot.

but this is stereotypical of course. there are exceptions, just generally, this is what western is regarded as.

But if you rate the school in terms of its connections and networks, it deserves to be one of the top~ (if not the top)

i guess. but you want to go to a school because its good in whatever you want to study it not because oh, a lot of rich people's sons and daughters go there, and it has good connections all over the world, so i m gonna go there. then thats just kind of retarded.

persay, berkeley, is pretty famous and its famous for its engineering. and people go there for that program would get benefits because of its good program, not because of its connections etc....

So that's why I say hard to say law - it depends on why you wanted to go to a school.........you can't deny that it's always better to do business when you have better connections.HK

Yes I guess if you are talking about sciences, engineering and majors like that, then I guess you look at program quality.

But if you are going in the school for its business program (especially business school) - then a school with great connections is one of the elements you have to consider.....k6P5q%g^2@+av

i agree that connection is important. and even in health care fields, sciences and engineering, connections are still important. but what i am saying is, sometimes those schools are overrated. Reason being is that they are famous is because of their successful grad schools (their research and whatnot). their undergraduate program are often not as good, like UT. they either try to scam you (like uT, accepting double the amount they can take) or they try to weed you out after the first year (marking insanely hard etc). So a lot of times, if you really want to go to harvard etc, just because you heard its a good school, chances are, you wont see it because they would try to weed you out and suck all the $$ out of you to support their famous grad school programs.

as a fellow westerner, i can tell you that even though we are the party school, it's mostly just the frosh. Plus, everyone school has their own share of party people, it just so happens we are in a small town saturated with pubs and clubs. Business school wise, Ivey used to be good but it's true it's declining in recent years, with york's schulich climbing up quickly. Still, the residual fame of ivey is still worth something. But for MBA, UT's rotman is one of the best best in canada. Harvard is good, but it sucks your wallet dry, don't expect you can have a nice meal if you attend harvard. For your money's worth, I highly recommend against harvard.

sorry, i mean the older frosh and second years are the party people

Should go for Yale
All top ten American famous universities are private university. Without enough cash, you can't even afford the tuition fee ! George Bush, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton were from Yale. If you can go for yale, it won't be wrong. Make some good friends there, who knows, you may be the best friend (or spouse) of future US President !!!! LOL

Undergraduate in UC Berkeley is not as good as the graduate school. I mean the teacher to student ratio. You will find yourself sitting in a Hall with 300+ students and you may barely see the professor.

300+ is nothing if you see first year undergrad life sci of UT....over 2000 students in the convocation hall.....learning chemistry. -_-"
